Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the CRO, Americas, in managing the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) within the region, across Business and Corporate Functions, and across all risk types;
  • Develop relationships with key business/stakeholders and work directly with them to ensure they meet their on-going responsibilities under the ERMF;
  • Establish themselves as a Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of the ERMF and the systems/tools used to support the framework;
  • Support the Group’s risk governance structure within the region, including preparation for the Regional Risk Committee and production of Risk Committee reporting;
  • Ensure the region meets its commitments under the annual Global Risk Plan;
  • Undertake reviews and deep dives as required by Group Risk’s annual Assurance Plan
  • Risk Identification and Evaluation process
  • Regional Risk Self-Assessment processes
  • Control Attestation process
  • Stress Testing and Reverse Stress Testing programs
  • Ensure the Risk Management Standards are being met within the region
  • Manage the risk response process within the region, including the review, approval and tracking of risk Issues, risk Actions and risk Deferrals
  • Evaluate risk Events as they occur to ensure they are documented properly and have an appropriate risk response where necessary
  • Monitor the region’s risk profile against risk appetite through the on-going review of Risk Appetite Threshold metrics and related KRIs. Leverage risk framework metrics to help stakeholders evaluate their risk exposure;
  • Assist the regional stakeholders in the identification and evaluation of emerging risks
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of regular risk reports, trend analysis, targeted risk assessments, etc
  • Assist in the compilation (where needed) of any risk-related regulatory submissions required for regulated subsidiaries within the region
  • Support the mapping of high-risk processes and propose recommendations to close ‘out of appetite’ risks and/or control deficiencies
  • Participate in and provide challenge to key business decision-making processes inclusive of New Business Initiatives
  • Provide on-going risk training within the region
  • Develop strong relationships with risk counterparts in the other regions to leverage experience and share information and observations
  • Consistently monitor the external environment for risk-related issues that should be evaluated and considered internally.

Risk Responsibilities:

Ensure that you understand the risks and controls of your department; what could go
wrong; what controls you have to prevent/detect or contain these.

All staff have defined risk management responsibilities. The Group imposes additional
responsibilities on line managers and senior managers. It is critical that all staff discharge their
risk management responsibilities when undertaking their role. Specific responsibilities are
incorporated into employee objectives, and your performance against these objectives will be
assessed as part of the firm’s performance management process. You will also be required to
confirm that you have discharged your risk management responsibilities through the annual
risk management attestation process.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a financial markets-related risk and/or controls role required
  • Role relevant qualifications preferred, i.e. Degree or professional qualification in business,
    accounting, finance, risk or compliance related fields or equivalent experience
  • Good understanding of Operational Risk and the fundamentals of a standard Operational
    Risk Framework
  • Good understanding of the foundations for an effective control environment
  • Relevant product knowledge and a general understanding of process flows that support
    those products
  • Understands ideas and has a viewpoint on the markets and economy
