Responsibilities:

Account Management – account and account transaction level risk assessment:

  • Compile the CRE account portfolio analysis on the monthly basis (or more frequently upon the identification of an emerging trend of credit deterioration, or the direction from CRE team leader);
  • Work with credit departments to establish the monitoring matrix (including both quantitative and qualitative monitoring indicators) and threshold for account level credit risk monitoring;
  • Conduct the account portfolio monitoring by comparing the accounts activities and the threshold, and identify any hit based on the monitoring matrix;
  • Conduct preliminary analysis if the hit is a true hit;
  • Report the true hit to corresponding RM for further analysis;
  • Collect the RM’s opinion based on their analysis;
  • Cooperate with RM to work on the review reports (i.e., propose downgrade in credit rating, watch list placement, or LQC adjustment, etc.);
  • Compose the account portfolio management report, including the economic review.

Team Level Portfolio Management – Portfolio monitoring, management and reporting of business portfolio:

  • Compile the monthly CRE business portfolio level portfolio monitoring reports;
  • Work with credit department to produce portfolio monitoring matrix (including both quantitative and qualitative monitoring indicators) and thresholds for business portfolio credit risk monitoring;
  • Conduct monthly portfolio analytics and monitoring to assess credit concentrations, trends and performance across various credit risk dimensions such as credit rating, loan type, geographies, credit policy exceptions, covenant exceptions and etc.;
  • Conduct the monthly business portfolio assessment by comparing the CRE portfolio actual performance with the pre-set thresholds/limits, to identify any breach or trigger, and any trends indicating a deterioration in asset quality, increase in credit risk (both inherent and residual), or any new emerging risk;
  • Conduct preliminary analysis on the identified issues;
  • Provide preliminary assessment and recommend actions to mitigate and control the identified risk matters;
  • Report to CRE team leader on the identifications and the PM opinions;
  • Compose the periodic portfolio management report and include a “point of view” narrative and analytical support related to portfolio trends, early indicators, impacts of portfolio management activities, and potential impact of emerging risk related to external influences on the business sector.

Others:

  • Be familiar and comply with the applicable regulatory and Branch’s policies and procedures etc.;
  • Cooperate with the 2nd line of defense to improve credit risk management via establishing a direct line of communication to inform CRE’s portfolio management activities;
  • Periodically evaluate the appropriateness of CRE’s Key Risk Indicators/Risk Limits (including early warning indicators and the thresholds) and propose adjustment when necessary or upon the change of Branch-wide Credit Risk Appetite/Risk Limit to assure the alignment;
  • Support RM on managing special assets in accordance with the guidance of Credit Management Department;
  • Maintain procedures related to portfolio management within the department Policy and Procedure;
  • Work with RMs to monitor external and internal covenant and reporting requirement, and escalate any breach or potential violation to RM;
  • Coordinate with RMs and Syndication team to monitor and track the progress of mandatory portfolio reduction or mandated loan sale (if any), and escalate any past due to CRE Team Lead;
  • Assist the CRE Team Lead to prepare the other management report;
  • Monitor and report the Key Risk Indicators(“KRIs”) on a quarterly basis, identify movements, potential risks, and breaches, perform risk analysis and report to the 2nd line of defense;
  • Monitor the economic capital consumption as well as the account level comprehensive RAROC;
  • Other ad-hoc tasks assigned by CRE team leader.
