VP, Credit Analyst (Commercial Real Estate)

The incumbent will be responsible for conducting credit risk evaluations, making recommendations in conformance with Bank’s risk appetite and policies, implementing policy and credit process controls to monitor and maintain the asset quality of the US Branches loan portfolio, and preparing portfolios and other reports. S/he also will be updating credit risk policies/procedures to reflect changes in internal and regulatory guidelines and conducting relevant industry and product research for presentation to management.

Job Duties:

  • Provide guidance to bank policies/procedures and underwriting standards
  • Establish measurable goals to monitor tasks completion
  • Provide training/coaching staff to increase product, industry and portfolio coverage knowledge
  • Conduct quality control on the work of team members
  • Set up performance target, provide guidance to team members to meet the goal, and follow up with the implementation
  • Provide Front Line Unit (FLU) with credible challenges and policies/procedures guidance
  • Independently challenge and critique FLUs credit proposals and document key points accordingly
  • Lead team to a ) conduct independent risk analysis consisting of in-depth analysis of financial and operational performance, ratio calculation and analysis, and, where appropriate, financial projections and sensitivity analysis, b) independently identify risks and mitigates
  • Ensure: a) timely and appropriate follow-up to post lending requirements; b) monitoring of watched and criticized assets; and c) proactive monitoring and reporting of industry trends impacting loan portfolio
  • Relevant CRE industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of banking products and regulatory requirement
  • Demonstrate initiative to acquire necessary knowledge (industry, products, market conditions, policies, and procedures) to perform job function
  • Demonstrate progression in learning and application of concepts learned

Job requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in credit risk management/ CRE underwriting or risk analyst
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting is required. MBA Finance/ Real Estate is preferred.
  • Specific skills of financial analysis and modeling, credit risk management, critical thinking, management and communication skill are preferred
  • Specific knowledge of CRE 1st mortgage origination and portfolio management, including property type of multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, condo for sale, and associated construction lending knowledge is preferred
  • CFA/FRM is preferred
