Salary: Up to $180,000


  • Provide second-line Market Risk and Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk guidance, review, challenge and oversight in the development of the risk setting statement and ensure the Businesses operate within limits, settings and appetite.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Market Risk and Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk matters which arise within operations to ensure facilitation of a successful balanced risk/reward approach and outcome.
  • Review new business and product proposals to ensure proposed new products/activities meet all applicable Market Risk and Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk requirements and ensure the application of a balanced and fully informed risk/reward approach to the decision making process.
  • Enhance the Risk function within CIB.
  • Keep abreast of markets, business and regulatory developments and understanding of best practices.
  • Liaise with Global Market Risk teams regarding group-level appetite, policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure Market Risk team comply with laws and all applicable compliance obligations relevant to existing work responsibilities, duties, work practices and conduct.
  • Identify and where possible mitigate or remediate any policy breaches, and to report them to relevant authorities (People Leader, Leadership Team, Compliance or regulators where appropriate).
  • Comply with the delegated authority specified within Market Risk Limit policy.
  • Maintain the independence of the Market Risk and Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk function and ensuring the “Risk Management Accountability Model” discipline is adhered to by First Line.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance regulatory standards and reporting, including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Federal Reserve Bank (Fed Reserve), other U.S. Regulators (e.g. CFTC/NFA), Australia Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA), Australian Security Investment Commission (ASIC) and other regulators as required.
  • Lead a team of two, ensuring seamless oversight coverage and responsibilities to
    stakeholders are managed.

  • Consistently support the right risk culture, values and behavior’s through setting the right tone, leading by example, focusing on risk accountability, effective challenge, and reinforcing this through reward programs.
  • Develop and promote a team oriented work environment that is enjoyable and rewarding for employees and consistent with objectives of the business.
  • Ensure all personnel and training records are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Ensure the Market Risk team models values and behaviors.
  • Ensure Market Risk team is sufficiently resourced and skilled to discharge its responsibilities and achieve its objectives.
